Managed databases
Run PostgreSQL, MariaDB or Valkey for your app or bot with FPS.ms.
Questions about Managed Databases
We've put our frequently asked questions right here, so you have your answers before you even start.
Still have questions or just want to chat?
Which database should I pick?
PostgreSQL is a great default for new apps. Pick MariaDB if your app or library asks for it, and Valkey for caches, sessions and job queues.
Is there a free plan?
Yes, one free database per account, on the engine of your choice. It has 128 MB of RAM and 250 MB of storage, and doesn't take the spot of your free bot or game server.
Are connections encrypted?
PostgreSQL and Valkey only accept TLS connections, with a certificate your app can verify. MariaDB has TLS built in, and its own clients use it automatically.
Is this a VPS?
No, FPS.ms does not offer VPS hosting. Your database runs in a container managed by FPS.ms. This means you never have to update its operating system, install security patches or keep the machine running yourself.
How much memory does my database need?
Small projects run fine on our free plan. For apps with daily users, 512 MB to 1 GB of memory is the sweet spot. Need more? Contact us for a custom plan.
