Is Valkey compatible with Redis?
Yes. Valkey speaks the Redis protocol, so libraries like ioredis, node-redis, BullMQ and redis-py work with it.
How do I connect my app to Valkey?
Deploy your database, create a user, and copy the connection URL into your app: easy as that!
Are connections encrypted?
Yes. Your database only accepts TLS connections, with a certificate your app can verify.
Is my data saved when Valkey restarts?
Yes. Every write is saved to disk within a second, so your data is still there after a restart.
What happens when the memory is full?
Valkey keeps everything you store until you delete it or it expires. When the memory is full, new writes fail until you free up space or upgrade your plan.
Is this a VPS?
No, FPS.ms does not offer VPS hosting. Your database runs in a container managed by FPS.ms. This means you never have to update its operating system, install security patches or keep the machine running yourself.
How does the free plan work?
A free database has to be renewed every day to stay online, and at least once every 28 days to keep its data. More details on the Free Valkey Database page.
