Questions about Free Valkey Databases
We've put our frequently asked questions right here, so you have your answers before you even start.
Still have questions or just want to chat?
How do I get a free Valkey database?
Deploy a Valkey database on the Always Free plan, create a user, and copy the connection URL into your app: easy as that!
How much data can I store for free?
Valkey keeps about 76 MB of data in memory on the free plan, enough for a cache, sessions or a small job queue.
Is Valkey compatible with Redis?
Yes. Valkey speaks the Redis protocol, so libraries like ioredis, node-redis, BullMQ and redis-py work with it.
Can I run it next to my free bot?
Yes! Databases have their own free plan, so your free database doesn't take the spot of your free bot or game server.
What are the limits?
128 MB of RAM, 25% of one CPU core and 250 MB of storage. The free plan has no backup slot.
How does the free plan work?
Renew your free database every day to keep it online. Miss a renewal, and you have 28 days to renew before it is removed with all its data.
Is this a VPS?
No, FPS.ms does not offer VPS hosting. Your database runs in a container managed by FPS.ms. This means you never have to update its operating system, install security patches or keep the machine running yourself.
What happens when my database outgrows the free plan?
Upgrade from the panel and keep your data. Paid Valkey hosting adds memory and storage.
Ready to host your Valkey database for free?
Deploy your first database for free. Upgrade if you need more resources.
