Questions about Free PostgreSQL Databases
We've put our frequently asked questions right here, so you have your answers before you even start.
Still have questions or just want to chat?
How do I get a free PostgreSQL database?
Deploy a PostgreSQL database on the Always Free plan, create a database and a user, and copy the connection URL into your app: easy as that!
Can I run it next to my free bot?
Yes! Databases have their own free plan, so your free database doesn't take the spot of your free bot or game server.
What are the limits?
128 MB of RAM, 25% of one CPU core and 250 MB of storage. The free plan has no backup slot.
Is 128 MB enough for my project?
For a small bot or side project, yes. Busier apps run better on 256 MB or more.
Which extensions can I use?
Popular extensions like pgcrypto, pg_trgm, uuid-ossp, citext, hstore and unaccent. pgvector and PostGIS are not available.
What happens when my database is full?
You get a warning in the panel at 90%. Upgrade your plan before it fills up to keep your database running.
How does the free plan work?
Renew your free database every day to keep it online. Miss a renewal, and you have 28 days to renew before it is removed with all its data.
Are connections encrypted?
Yes. Your database only accepts TLS connections, with a certificate your app can verify.
Is this a VPS?
No, FPS.ms does not offer VPS hosting. Your database runs in a container managed by FPS.ms. This means you never have to update its operating system, install security patches or keep the machine running yourself.
What happens when my database outgrows the free plan?
Upgrade from the panel and keep your data. Paid PostgreSQL hosting adds memory, storage and backups.
Ready to host your PostgreSQL database for free?
Deploy your first database for free. Upgrade if you need more resources or backups.
