Questions about Haskell Hosting
We've put our frequently asked questions right here, so you have your answers before you even start.
Still have questions or just want to chat?
How do I host a Haskell app 24/7?
Deploy a Container, pick Haskell, upload your Cabal or Stack project, add your Environment Variables and start your server: easy as that! Your app keeps running, even if your computer is offline.
Is this a VPS?
No, FPS.ms does not offer VPS hosting. Your Haskell application runs in a container managed by FPS.ms. This means you never have to update its operating system, install security patches or keep the machine running yourself.
Which GHC versions can I use?
GHC 9.12 and 9.10, and you can switch between them whenever you like.
Cabal or Stack?
Both work. With a .cabal file your server builds with Cabal, otherwise with Stack. If your project has more than one executable, set the one to run in the panel.
How long does the first build take?
The first build compiles all your dependencies, which can take a few minutes. They stay cached on your server, so later builds only compile what changed.
How much memory do I need?
Compiling with GHC takes more memory than running your app. We recommend 1 GB for most projects and 2 GB for big dependency trees.
Can I host a Servant or Scotty API?
Yes! Your API gets its own Public URL with HTTPS, and paid plans can pick the name or connect a domain.
Can I deploy my app from GitHub?
Yes, you can deploy your code directly from GitHub, and even automatically (re)deploy your container when you push to your branch. If something breaks in your code, you can always roll back. GitHub deploys are a Pro feature.
Do plans include a database?
Yes, every plan includes a MariaDB database.
Ready to deploy your Haskell application?
Every plan comes with GitHub deploys, a database and your own domain.
