Questions about Dart Hosting
We've put our frequently asked questions right here, so you have your answers before you even start.
Still have questions or just want to chat?
How do I host a Dart app 24/7?
Deploy a Container, pick Dart, upload your code, add your Environment Variables and start your server: easy as that! Your app keeps running, even if your computer is offline.
Is this a VPS?
No, FPS.ms does not offer VPS hosting. Your Dart application runs in a container managed by FPS.ms. This means you never have to update its operating system, install security patches or keep the machine running yourself.
Is my app compiled?
Yes! Your server compiles your app to a native binary with dart compile exe, so it starts fast and uses little memory.
How do my packages get installed?
Automatically! Your server runs dart pub get before it compiles, so everything in your pubspec.yaml is ready.
Can I host the backend for my Flutter app?
Yes! An API built with shelf, or any other Dart server, answers at its own Public URL with HTTPS. Paid plans can pick the name or connect a domain.
Can I run Flutter itself?
No. Your server runs Dart without Flutter, so it fits backends, APIs and bots. Build your Flutter app on your own machine.
Can I deploy my app from GitHub?
Yes, you can deploy your code directly from GitHub, and even automatically (re)deploy your container when you push to your branch. If something breaks in your code, you can always roll back. GitHub deploys are a Pro feature.
Do paid plans include a database?
Yes, every paid plan from 256 MB includes a MariaDB database.
How does the free plan work?
A free plan has to be renewed every day to stay online, and at least once every 28 days to keep its data. More details on the Free Dart Hosting page.
