# Installing Plugins on Your Minecraft Server

Plugins add features to your Minecraft server, like permissions, land claims or an economy. On FPS.ms you install them from the **Plugins** page. The panel downloads them from [Modrinth](https://modrinth.com/plugins) or [Hangar](https://hangar.papermc.io/) and picks a release that fits your server.

## Open the Plugins page

1. Go to [panel.fps.ms](https://panel.fps.ms) and open your server.
2. In the top bar, click **More**, then click **Plugins**.

## Find and install a plugin

1. Type the name of the plugin in **Search**, for example `LuckPerms`.
2. Click **Install** on the plugin you want.

3. Check the name and version, then click **Install**.

If the plugin needs other plugins to work, the dialog tells you. The panel installs those for you at the same time.

!!! tip "Want an older release? Click **All versions** instead of **Install** and pick the release you want."

## Restart your server

Your server only loads new plugins when it starts.

1. Click the **Installed** tab. Your new plugin is in the list.
2. Click **Restart now**.

When the server is back online, check the **Console** for red error lines about the plugin.

## Manage your plugins

On the **Installed** tab you can:

- Turn a plugin off with the switch under **Enabled**, without removing it.
- Click the version to update the plugin or go back to an older release.
- Click **Remove** to delete the plugin.

Restart your server after every change.

## A plugin that is not on Modrinth or Hangar

Some plugins, like paid ones from SpigotMC, are not in the panel's list. You can still upload them yourself:

1. Download the `.jar` file of the plugin. Make sure it works with your Minecraft version.
2. Go to **Files** and open the `plugins` folder.
3. Upload the `.jar` file. See [uploading files](https://fps.ms/docs/getting-started/uploading-files.md) for help.
4. Restart your server.
